THE HOPE THEORY (2024)

As a Portuguese immigrant, I arrived in America at 29. Wide-eyed and full of ideas, I discovered a fascinating puzzle of cultural and professional challenges to solve while I tried to build a home. The Hope Theory offers my unique perspective on the America I found. In keeping with the topic, some performances of The Hope Theory were done completely in Spanish. This project focused on the idea of belonging and how that shapes who we are, how others see us, and how that shapes our decisions in life.

Frank Marshall directed the show again, marking our fourth collaboration with the Geffen Playhouse, for a complete run of 12 weeks of sold-out performances.
